History of Durham Chapter
The Durham Chapter of National Epicureans was founded by eleven ladies in 1962. The chapter was sponsored by the Roanoke Chapter and introduced by Ruth Anderson. An induction service was held on November 3, 1962. The founding members were Junanetta Alexander, Mary Ballard, Lillie Fike, Rennie Galbreath, Ruby Gray, Helen Holiday, Hilda Johnson, Claire Lawrence, Doris Mebane, Ernestine Perry, and Evelyn Waddell. The Durham Chapter sponsored their last Conclave in 1991 with a theme, "Laughter is the Best Medicine". In February 2012, we celebrated our Golden Anniversary at the RTP Radisson Hotel. We honored our founding member, Evelyn Waddell.
